Gentlemen Callers: Trois Beaux
Authentic techniques for advance trimmings.
As hats become more refined to reflect our post-Covid lockdown desire for elegant simplicity reflective of life-style oriented, easier clothing, these simple hat styles will call can for trimmings with confident, clear lines.
The Trois Beaux (Three Bows) class is designed to introduce students to 3 different approaches in separate fabrications for stylish bow making.
Versatile and perfect, these bows can be worn on their own or attached to hats yet are so cleanly finished, that they could form part of a removable trimming scheme offering clients even greater hat-wearing variety.
Starting with a hand whipped, stiffened taffeta bow, then a machine-sewn multi-media sinemay variation and finishing with a superbly tailored bow sleekly created from classic Petersham ribbons.
Split into two sessions, allowing time for quiet ‘home-alone’ hand sewing between classes, students should complete the entire compliment with the ability and know-how to recreate and further innovate on their own.
Table4SIX offers limited places in an online forum to create the intimate atmosphere of the workroom table environment.
Session one will be three hours with approximately two hours homework before meeting again for two hours to finalise the three projects.
